Travel through golden fields, dotted by flowers that smell of warm honey with profound healing benefits from trauma relief to skin regeneration.
It is no wonder that Helichrysum has been coined through the ages with the names Everlasting and Immortelle, as a tribute to the aroma that remains in the buds for years and years, long after the flowers have been harvested from the ground. Such names also speak to the character of this botanical. It is among the most important essential oils we have discovered as humans. Countless testimonials from people around the world speak to the profound regenerative properties of this precious oil. From skin care benefits to scar diminishment to relief from various kinds of trauma, Helichrysum seems to be illuminated with everlasting life force. Liquid gold is another name to describe this gift from the earth.
Helichrysum italicum is arguably one of the greatest gifts of the natural world. The living botanical reflects the earth in its warm aroma and the sun in its golden flowers. Derived from the Greek words helisso (sun) and chrysos (gold), Helichrysum's name is as regal as its essential oil benefits, from remarkable skin regeneration to wound healing and trauma relief. It has the ability to treat wounds on contact and then heal the scars that follow. Unrivaled in its regenerative effects, it is an essential elixir in everyday skincare routines to smooth out the mile markers of our lives as wrinkles reflect our unique journey.
Helichrysum is a healing and restorative powerhouse. It soothes inflammation, while also reducing pain with its built-in analgesic properties. It is a multifaceted aid in acute trauma conditions as well as a daily tonic to keep skin healthy.
Time Honored & Time Defying
One of the most awe-inspiring aspects of botanicals is that they carry the unique properties of the life force that helped them survive in their place of origin. Helichrysum, known as Everlasting or Immortelle, has a strong will to bloom vibrant yellow flowers in hot, dry terrain. The color and aroma of the dried flowers remain vibrant for decades, and the essential oil has a time defying effect, as well. It both speeds up the healing process on wounds and also seemingly turns back the clock with visible skin aging. Helichrysum italicum essential oil is a must-have for unexpected First-Aid needs as well as daily skincare maintenance.
The Human & Essential Oil Connection
Our skin is our largest organ and plays a vital role in protecting us from pathogens like viruses, bacteria, and other microbes that can weaken us or even lead to disease. One of the most powerful aspects of essential oils is how the intricate systems of our bodies are designed to recognize and process them. Essential oils existed in plants long before humans and therefore, unlike synthetics, they communicate with us in a unique way. Helichrysum displays a brilliant example of this organic connection. The spectrum of naturally occurring chemistry in this essential oil is vast, which is why it offers such myriad benefits to us (see image below for the extensive list of benefits). Beyond the regenerative effects it visibly has on our skin, it also helps protect us from pathogens entering our bodies through our skin, which is why it is so useful in times of trauma.
Experience these 5 ways to use Helichrysum italicum Essential Oil (EO)
Graceful Aging Regenerative Skincare: Create a 2% dilution of EO to Carrier Oil. This translates to 3 drops EO per 5 mL Carrier Oil. For a larger batch, you can add 2-3 mL (60-75 drops) to 4 oz Carrier Oil. Use daily as a serum. We have formulated Helichrysum essential oil into the Replenishing Ritual Serum and Soothing Ritual Serum for you to incorporate into your skincare ritual.
Scar Diminishing: Add 6-7 drops Helichrysum italicum and 4 mL Rosehip Seed Oil to an empty 1 oz/30 mL bottle. Fill the bottle with the remaining 25-26 mL Carrier Oil of your choice. Apply 2-3 times per day for at least one month.
Cuts and Wounds: Lavender EO is often an excellent treatment for minor cuts and wounds. When the event involves more trauma, Helichrysum italicum can be a dynamic First Aid rescue. In Traditional French Medical Aromatherapy, it is recommended to apply several drops of Helichrysum italicum directly onto the cut or wounded skin area for benefits such as: analgesic/pain relief, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and support in regenerating skin cell/tissue.
Burns: Apply several drops of Helichrysum italicum and Lavender EOs (in equal parts) to minor burns, including sunburns. Testimonials speak to the analgesic effects as well as reduction of the burned area.
Bruises: Create a 1% dilution of EO to Carrier Oil. This translates to 1-2 drops EO per 5 mL Carrier Oil. For a larger batch, you can add 1 mL (25 drops) to 4 oz Carrier Oil. Apply to bruised area 2-3 times a day.
